  1. Looks like a concise and well-tuned thesis question to me, Tony.

I would agree with Elissa that Northern Trailer is a great resource for you.

Firstly, they are one of the largest manufacturers and suppliers of portable camp accomodation for oil and gas companies, and industry of all kinds.

Second, they are located here in Kamloops, and if you make a link into Northern Trailer, they are a large employer.

I'm sure someone there is well qualified to comment on the price point of bunkhouses and the saleability of net-zero versions.

I have a contact name for you: Geoff Crowe orders the components for manufacturing office, bunkhouse, and residential applications at Northern Trailer. He could probably help direct you to the right person in their organization. I don't know him personally, but you could say by way of introduction that someone who worked at Rona dropped the name.

    Good luck Tony!

  2. Good idea narrowing down the topic Tony. There's lots of info to be found on this. Ive worked in a lot of camps before, some in BC and some in the territories if you have any questions feel free to ask me. Check out http://www.weatherhaven.com/ they manufacturer tent that are used quite widely in northern camps. I would say the biggest issue would be heat. For camps as the standard the is usually diesel fuel. Which is pricey and hard to transport as well as there are usually environmental impacts due to spills.

  3. Hey guys thanks for your comments.

Thanks Tony i will have to make sure to stop by northern trailor it seems like a good place to get some info.

And thanks for the website Bert, i checked it out and it looks like it could be a lot of help to me. I also agree that heat would be the biggest issue, if heat could be produced without the use of fosil fuels it would save not only money, but the planet also.

  4. Wow, this is a really good idea. I wonder if this would be a hard sell to the company's up north that seem to love wasting energy.

Another application could be for school portables. I've heard they are redicuously wastefull.
